I purchased this pedal because I was looking for an interesting boost/overdrive to put in front of my Orange GRO100, which is a single channel, non Master Volume LOUD 100 watt head.  I was also interested in the Devi Ever branding – the pedals look cool and are pretty reasonable.

Since then my rig has changed somewhat and I’m now playing mostly through an Engater Renegade head.

Features:

True bypass, volume and control knobs, and a 05 (dirty boost)/25 (clean boost) switch. Oh, and a footswitch.

Ease of use:

Minimal controls make this a pretty straight forward pedal to use.  The volume controls the… ummm… volume. Unity gain is at about 9 o’clock – this pedal has LOADS of volume boost on tap…

Sound quality:

There are 2 distinct sounds with this pedal… well, 3 really. Set to 25, it’s a clear and bright volume boost – volume being the key word, there’s LOADS of it to be had.  The Control knob thickens the sound a little, gentle tone shaping.

Set to 05, this thing is a little monster…  Again, loads of volume on tap.  Here though the Control knob gives you treble booster (control at about 3 o’clock) all the way to pretty aggressive overdrive.

I had this pedal as a direct input into my Orange  and I really didn’t like it – way too noisy and just didn’t do it for me sonically.  I tried it in the same way with my Egnater, and much the same.  However, in the FX loop of my Engater, it’s really come alive.

Reliability:

N/A

Overall rating:

Really good little treble booster and a bargain at the price.  I suspect that it might be fussy as to the amp it’s used with and placement in the chain… worth playing around with though.

Oh, and Devi Ever sends out a free lollipop with each pedal. Don’t get THAT from Boss!
