Ceriatone RockIt! – Guitar Amplifier Review

I had started to look for a “Holy Grail” level amp kit, and learned about the TrainWreck vibe/mystique.

MI Amplification – Megalith Beta Review

MI Amplification – Megalith Beta Review

This review was submitted by Guitar Jar contributor: Matt Skarajew

I’ve been searching for the perfect High Gain amp for as long as I can remember, and have played extreme metal semi-pro for over 20 years now before finding the M.I Amps ‘Megalith Beta’. It’s the 2nd of 3 amps in the M.I ‘Megalith’ range. I have owned and auditioned Engl, Mesa, Hughes & Kettner, Bogner, Blackstar and Diezel High Gain amps. All great amps in their own way, but the Megalith is able to capture the great attributes of each of these amps in a single package.

I play lead guitar in Dallas, Tx based nationally touring band Page 9. I am always looking for a richer thicker amp tone and Orange really hit the nail on the head with the Rocker 30.

Marshall Haze 15 Amplifier Head Review

Marshall Haze 15 Amplifier Head Review

I wanted something to bring give a professional, live sound at lower wattage for home practice – getting that timeless Marshall stack presence was a real bonus, too. The proportionately scaled-down size actually looks prettier than the full size Marshall stack and fits in well in a domestic environment.

Jet City JCA20H Amplifier Head & 2×12 Cab Review

Jet City JCA20H Amplifier Head & 2×12 Cab Review

This review was submitted by Guitar Jar contributor: Mark Angel

I had a Sound City 100W valve head in the late 70′s and early 80′s.  It was a beast of an amp but eventually it was replaced with a solid state Peavey combo.  That combo was gigged and gigged and was smaller, lighter, more versatile, and more resilient than the Sound City.  The valve head ended up in the garage – worthless – and got given away many years later. Such was the destiny of valve amps it seems.  (Now those heads are worth mucho $£.   Wish I’d kept it!).

Blackstar HT-5 Amplifier Head Review

Blackstar HT-5 Amplifier Head Review

This review was submitted by Guitar Jar contributor: Paul

I got this amp as it was the most versatile 5 watt amp about. I play 80′s hair-metal & rock, and it kicks arse. This amp provides TV volume playing with an excellent sound.

I bought the Orange Rocker 30 Head four years ago, special order through Guitar Guitar in Edinburgh, Scotland. I was looking for a top class tube head to use in my 5 piece blues and rock band.

Marshall JVM410H 100W Head Review

Marshall JVM410H 100W Head Review

This review was submitted by Guitar Jar contributor: Steven Page

I became a fan of Marshall Amps just like many people; my idols played through them and the older Marshall amps sounded good. However, I’d been turned off by Marshall over the past few years after having bad experiences with some of the newer amp models. It seems purchasing certain older models is proving increasingly difficult and expensive. Ultimately I went elsewhere and used many other brands, some good and some bad.

1970′s Traynor YGM-3 Guitar Mate Review

1970′s Traynor YGM-3 Guitar Mate Review

After selling an amp to finance a new car I promptly searched eBay for a cheap all valve replacement that featured a 12” speaker. Eventually, I was the lucky winner of an original early 1970′s Traynor YGM-3 Guitar Mate for just shy of £200. Bargain!

Marshall Vintage/Modern 2266C Combo Review

Marshall Vintage/Modern 2266C Combo Review

I’ve been after a new amp since I was forced to sell my ’76 Fender Twin around three years ago. I’ve made do with using alternatives and I kind of figured there was no way I would be able to afford a new piece of kit in the near future. Until I managed to scrape enough money together after some much needed ebay sales. Why a combo? Ease of transport for one. Also, my Mrs went ape when I brought home a 4×12” once and there was no way of convincing her it looked amazing in the lounge.
