Me & My Guitar: Share Your Story

Guitar owners are asked to share their stories of “Me & My Guitar” for a new book by Alan Chesters and photographer Carole Berg.

…This is a book about real people, the guitar they love and how they came together…

Have you had a love affair with a special guitar?

The authors of a new book, ‘Me and My Guitar’, are looking for interesting stories from guitar owners of how they came to have a special guitar.

The guitar does not have to classic or expensive, as the book sets out to celebrate both professional and amateur guitar players who have an interesting or unusual story to tell about how their guitar came into their possession.

The book is the brainchild of musician/artist Alan Chesters and photographer Carole Berg. Alan is a musician and has a 40-year career as one of the UK’s leading set designers. He has worked on projects as diverse as Live Aid, to performances by the Spice Girls, The Prodigy and Iron Maiden. Meanwhile Carole has worked in media and music promotion as well as on photography commissions in the UK and Europe.

“Me and My Guitar isn’t just another reference book of classic and rare guitars or a book about celebrities” says Alan. “This is a book about real people, the guitar they love and how they came together. We have already interviewed and photographed people from nationally-known guitarists to buskers, and people playing in bands and at home, whose day jobs range from school teacher to plumber. All of them have a great story to tell.”

According to Carole: “Having worked with musicians for many years, we know that many guitarists have a special place in their heart for a particular guitar, and often have really fascinating stories to tell. We decided to publish a book to celebrate the stories of guitar players from every walk of life, rather than the usual approach of talking just to celebrities or focusing on classic guitars.”
