Bare Knuckle Pickups announce the release of the latest edition to our artist signature pickup range, the Misha Mansoor ‘Juggernaut’ humbuckers.
Best known as the guitarist and founder of US progressive metal giants Periphery, Misha is also a much in demand music producer and has worked with Animals As Leaders, Stray From The Path, An Obscure Signal, Born Of Osiris, Being, Veil Of Maya and Volumes.
A long time Bare Knuckle user it seemed a logical step to create a set of humbuckers that encompassed all of Misha’s specific needs for his guitars.
The Juggernaut humbucker is designed with symmetrically hand-wound twin screw coils and a new re-tooled cover housing the unique combination of massive Alnico V and ceramic VIII flankers for its bridge engine and a custom size Alnico V in the neck.
Mansoor comments, “I have always loved Bare Knuckle Pickups for the detailed and open sound that all their pickups share, so when it came time to design my own signature pickup it was clear that I would have to go to Tim Mills himself to get what I wanted.
I have always been a bit torn between the performance of ceramic and Alnico magnets. For my purposes, ceramic offers the tightness and attack that I enjoy at the cost of a fierce high end and compressed dynamic. Alnico, on the other hand, is sweet, musical, and very dynamic, but does not have the aggressiveness or tightness that I need for my music.
I came to Tim saying that I would love a pickup that could bring together the best aspects of both magnets.
After prototyping for a while, Tim developed a set of pickups that matched exactly what I had asked for, and more. The big surprise was that meeting these criteria for dirty sounds made the pickups sound incredible on cleans as well. The Juggernaut encapsulates everything that I look for in a pickup in a ground breaking way. I can finally have the tightness and attack of Ceramic with the dynamics and musical nature of Alnico. As a result, I can proudly call the Bare Knuckle ‘Juggernaut’ my signature pickup set.”
Bass response is big and focused with lots of weight in the mids for the ultimate in definition through complex extended chord voicings. High end is rich and vocal with all of the articulation and dynamic control that Misha demands for his progressive playing style.
Available in 6 and 7 string open and covered formats as well as with optional unique ‘bulb’ etch graphic covers.
