Bare Knuckle Pickups – Holydiver Humbucker Review

This review was submitted by Guitar Jar contributor: Nelson

I bought a Les Paul Studio a while ago and noticed something wasn’t right… the pickups.

…I’m now 100% devoted to Bare Knuckle Pickups…

The 498t and 490r were alright but the 498t was very muddy. I heard about BKP through YouTube and thought about trying them out, so I emailed Tim Mills for more information and decided on the Holydiver.

Features:

My Holydiver is about 15k, Alnico V, pretty hot, but I tame it by lowering the pickup. This pickup sounds FAT and articulate. It handles whatever I throw at it. Though it may not be the best pickup for a Les Paul, it works for me.

Ease of use:

Install it and you’re done.

Sound Quality:

The sound is very well balanced and detailed when playing huge distorted chords, and it’s pretty tight too for an Alnico V. Much better than the 498t.

Reliability:

I have no doubts about this pickup ever having a problem. Tim knows what he’s doing and he’s doing it right!

Overall Rating:

I am now 100% devoted to BKP. Next one to buy will be a Black Dog.
