MacPherson Guitars – The Icon – Guitar Review

Having explored a lot of options for a new “high end” guitar, I decided to talk to Dan Macpherson (DM Guitars) about building me the perfect “Strat”.

…the end result is by far the nicest playing guitar in my collection…

DM Guitars Strat Copy - Dan MacPherson GuitarsI have worked in music retail for over ten years, and I always feel let down that the price tag of an instrument doesn’t always represent the quality that is promised.

I spoke to Dan and we set the wheels in motion. The end result is by far the nicest playing guitar in my collection, the finish is outstanding, and I love the comments from people when they hear it.

Features:

  • A hand crafted Birds eye maple neck, lightweight body.
  • Metallic candy-apple red finish.
  • Fender SCN pickups (my choice).
  • Vintage style trem.
  • Locking tuners.

Ease of use:

The neck shape is perfect and completely hand carved – not a purchased spare! The light body makes it so easy to play for long periods of time.

Sound Quality:

I have come to realise over many years that all that matters on a guitar is the resonance of the body – and more important – the neck and body together. This “Strat” is the most “twangy” beautiful full sound of all my guitars.

Reliability:

Build quality is simply flawless. Amazing.

Overall Rating:

I would recommend anyone to consider a Macpherson guitar as a serious alternative to branded guitars.

I thought I would never do it, but am so glad I did. This guitar has made a lot of my collection redundant, as now I realise that they are not a patch on this one.

It gets giged twice a week, and I love it!
