Ernie Ball Music Man “Luke” Guitar Review

This review was submitted by Guitar Jar contributor: Giovanni Forcelli

My love for Music Man guitars started completely by accident. I had a Les Paul Classic that I just didn’t like; I tried forever to sell with no responses till one day someone offered a trade for it.

…these guitars are visually appealing and sound amazing and built better than any other guitar I’ve ever owned…

Ernie Ball Music Man - LukeThe guy had offered me a Steve Morse y2d in purple sunset and let me tell you this guitar is gorgeous and the build quality is incredible. So I traded and loved the SM y2d. Then I went into a local GC and they had a “Luke” that wasn’t supposed to be there; no one ordered it, it just showed up.

I picked up that guitar and the neck was amazing, the pickups sounded awesome and yet again the build quality was just brilliant. So I had put it on layaway (pay for it in parts, not receiving the goods until all the money has been paid for). Somehow I had to get the money so I sold my Tele, my Epiphone Firebird, My Epiphone Wildkat and a bunch of pedals.

It took me a week to raise the money to take the Luke home. I’ve had and have Strats, Les Pauls, Teles and nothing plays like my Luke; I just love the guitar.

Features:

This guitar features a birdseye maple neck with rosewood fingerboard with a soft V profile. It features the EMG Steve Lukather active pickups in a 2 single coil and humbucker configuration. It has a music man tremolo and a beautiful graphite pearl finish.

Ease of use:

This has got to be the easiest playing guitar ever; the neck fits in your hand perfect and is extremely comfortable.

Sound quality:

Sound quality is awesome; the neck pickups have a beautiful single coil bell like quality to them and the humbucker can just scream if you want it to.

The guitar acoustically sounds amazing and has a nice bold tone even without an amp; the guitar seems to really resonate. Also the pickups clean up very nicely when you want them to.

Reliability:

I foresee nothing going wrong with this guitar. I feel it’s built so well and the attention to detail is amazing. The guitar feels just very solid. The finish on it is also impeccable.

Overall rating:

I will never stop using EBMM guitars. I’ve sold most of my other guitars just for the simple fact I don’t play them anymore. These guitars are visually appealing, sound amazing and are built better than any other guitar I’ve ever owned.

I try to get everyone I know to at least go and try one if they can. I use theses guitars live, in the studio and for jam sessions and never do they disappoint. One thing to mention is their customer service is the best and they are there to help with any issues.

Great guitars, great company, great service, enough said.
