Fishman LoudBox Mini Amplifier Review

The Fishman Loudbox Mini lives up to its name. Man is it loud.

Fishman Mini LoudBox AmplifierI played an acoustic-electric gig using this acoustic amp and my Godin A-8 Mandolin. I had this turned up to “1”, yes that reads “One!” and it was so loud. None of my other amps can compete with that volume for its size, weight and controls.

The price was just right, too. I love this Fishman Mini Loudbox.

Features:

Three band equalizer. Plays like 100 watts, but is half of less than that. Slight tilt back so the sound comes up to the performer and the audience. Colour is tan and brown.

Ease of use:

Lightweight–about 20 Lbs. Controls right up front.

Sound Quality:

The sound is very rich and full and designed to enhance acoustic electric instruments.

Reliability:

I have not had any issues with this quality device.

Overall Rating:

I like this unit so much, that I am considering buying the larger Fishman Loudbox to use in larger venues.

The Fishman Mini Loudbox that I regularly use makes my music just perfect for me and the listeners.

  • Thanks for the review Alf. Agree wholeheartedly with you, the Loudbox Mini is just that. It is Loud, it is a Box, and it is Mini, and the sound that comes out of it is astonishing.

Have played small gigs with nothing but this little beast, master volume about halfway and gain about halfway on both guitar and vocal and this little amp carried it off with ease. Lovely built in reverb, very sweet, and a bit of chorus if required, though don’t use this much. This amp brings out the best in my Faith Jupiter acoustic, deep and full bottom end, rich, crisp mids and highs, all coming out of this tiny 6″ speaker!

I use the Mini to rehearse with my female singer, and for big gigs we use it as foldback and take a balanced line out to the main desk.

Fantastic amp at a great price, and would not hersitate to recommend it to any acoustic bedroom or gigging guitarist.
