After being a Tele fan for so many years, I just always wanted one that was custom made to my spec.
…Go seek out Dan Macpherson. You will not regret it…
I know Dan Macpherson through a couple of friends, I knew he was exactly the man to make my dream come true. I was not disappointed!
The guitar is a swamp ash, chambered body, with body contours for a more comfortable play.
Pickups are Joe Barden with hot rails type at the bridge and a P90 humbucker size at the neck. Also added was Fishman Powerbridge with its own volume control where the tone pot would normally be and a stacked volume tone for the magnetic pickups in the volume position.
Neck is bird eye maple with a rosewood board and tuners are Gotoh locking tuners, just to tighten everything up for stable tuning, and it works a treat!
Output is to a stereo jack for the split signal, but if you plug a mono lead in the magnetic side is the output sound only.
Just a joy to play, the neck was shaped as I required, Dan called me in several times to have a ‘feel’ (ooerr missus!) to make sure everything would be as I wanted.
This was a real boost for me as I knew that what I would be buying was going to feel just right.
Its comfortable, very light and a bit of a wolf in sheeps clothing. Everyone who picks it up wants to buy it!! Errr no, buy your own mate!
First Class!! The Bardens are quite a toppy pickup but still retain plenty of bottom end, the clarity is simply stunning.
Wind them up and they just sing. For that twang thing they cannot be bettered to my ears.
But the real plus is when you layer the acoustic sound of the powerbridge, which alone sounds fabulous, but couple it with the Bardens and its like no other guitar Ive ever owned!
Now knowing Dan Macpherson for a while , I know that he is an absolute perfectionist… not a “that’ll do type of bloke”… no sir, everything has to be right.
My guitar is not just a tool, its a work of art a thing of beauty, made by a master.
It feels rock solid in everyway, so I’ve no need to even question reliability, however, if I ever had a problem I know the man who would sort it out without question.
You can probably guess, Im a fan of Dan’s work, and this instrument is no exception.
IF, come the day, you want THAT guitar made, the ONE you will keep for the rest of your life, the ONE people talk about, the ONE you will pass on to younger hands when your guitar totin days are over…
Go seek out Dan Macpherson. You will not regret it.
